Here's George doing his usual stand-up routine as he defends how the US handled the Lebanon/Israel war, which is now (for the time being) over. Bush declared that Hezbollah was the loser, and gave the US credit for leading the way in establishing the UN ceasefire.
"Leading the way"?
Well, I guess if "leading the way" means "being dragged kicking and screaming", then the US definitely led the way to the ultimate UN resolution. They were one of the only countries who resisted the call for a ceasefire for weeks before finally caving in under world pressure and the realization that Israel wasn't winning this one. "Leading the way"... in the Orwellian bizarro-world inhabited by Bushco, where "war is peace, freedom is slavery and ignorance is strength", it doesn't surprise me to hear Bush say America deserves credit for "leading the way" to the ceasefire.
