Georgie needs to drink some Impeachment Tea!
No wonder Bush looked so shaky at his press conference on Wednesday. This MSNBC poll from yesterday indicates that an overwhelming majority of Americans think George W Bush deserves to be impeached. Even assuming a left-leaning bias for MSNBC's readership, the poll would still show a healthy majority in favour of giving that yammering idiot the boot.
America spent 12 years being battered by a republican political machine that seemed inextricably in control of congress. As the Bush administration grew more and more out of the peoples' control, cementing ever-widening powers in the hands of a few, people were losing hope. Many feared that the end of the George W Bush administration might even herald yet another Bush administration with his brother Jeb at the helm. The Bush family and the House of Saud seemed to be in permanent control.
Tuesday changed all that. In sweeping away republican control of congress, people got something they haven't had for years: hope that the insanity might end. The light at the end of the tunnel that emerged on Tuesday was the shot of espresso American progressives and moderates needed to re-energize. Now the anger that many wouldn't allow themselves to feel is rising, and the polls are showing it. The democrats have warily stayed away from the impeachment issue, and for now, rightly so. But as they tackle their laundry list of corruption, cronyism and incompetence investigations, this could change. If people are angry now, wait til they find out where their $9 billion disappeared to in Iraq, among other things.
Get out your Sunday-Go-To-Meetin' suit, Georgie, and get ready to go a-courtin'.
