Revolution starts now (or not)
Amid recent speculation that the US may or may not attack Iran, which may or may not be arming Iraqi militias, and may or may not be building a nuclear bomb, the London Times reported yesterday that 5 american generals have said "ENOUGH" and threatened to resign if said attack is launched:
“There are four or five generals and admirals we know of who would resign if Bush ordered an attack on Iran,” a source with close ties to British intelligence said. “There is simply no stomach for it in the Pentagon, and a lot of people question whether such an attack would be effective or even possible.”
There's long been misgivings among the higher levels of the US military about the war in Iraq and the chickenhawks mismanaging it, but soldiers being soldiers, it takes a lot to make them turn on their commander-in-chief. Not to mention that even when they offer the most constructive criticism, they get fired. Threatening to resign in response to the Bush administration's possible further abuse of the military by attacking Iran is indicative of how completely helpless and disrespected these guys must feel. They know attacking Iran would be a horrendous move, but they also know that speaking out against it will mean their jobs anyway, so they might as well quit en masse in protest.
Next step: a military coup; rush the white house and toss them all out head first.
