Unhampered by the rules and regs that stifle traditional media, denizens of the internet tend to test the bounds of what's verbally acceptable on an ongoing basis. Nowhere is this more evident than in the blogosphere; whether it's in blog posts themselves or the readers' comments, profanity abounds.
The question of who swears more along political lines came up on Instapundit. There were strong suspicions but no hard evidence of which side might be the worst offender, so a Conservative blogger at News Buckit decided to find out once and for all. He conducted a somewhat unscientific survey by searching the top right-wing and left-wing blogs, using as search criteria George Carlin's infamous "7 dirty words".
The results: profanity is used, um, "liberally": Left Blogistan out-curses Right Blogistan by a margin of 18-1. Woo-fuckin'-hoo! Of course, in the obscenity sweepstakes conservatives will always be at a advantage (or disadvantage, depending how you look at it) because they've got the fundies who wouldn't say shit if they had a mouthful of it.
And really, it's hard not to say fuck or bullshit when there's so much fucking bullshit going on.
