I just ordered Naomi Klein's new book "Shock Doctrine" after watching the companion video that's been making the rounds (here at TGB).
There's no question that a populace in shock, traumatized after the 9/11 attacks, is the only reason the last 6 years has unfolded in the disastrous way that it has. By the time people recovered sufficiently to realize what had happened, it was too late: the heart of darkness had been reached. Unilateral aggression, civil liberties curtailed, and even the unspeakable fall from grace that was the admission that We Torture -- the ongoing disaster that started on September 11, 2001, has taken on a life of its own. And in no small part because someone, somewhere is always making money from it.
This is Part One of a 6-part video series of a speech Klein gave talking about the book and the issues it deals with. (Double click on the vid to see parts Two - Six.)

I just ordered 4 new books a couple of days ago (including Hitchens' "God is not Great", mwaahaaha), but I'm hoping Shock Doctrine gets here first.
