Pet Co-operation
Kitty was left out all Sunday night and returned Monday morning (good kitty!)... only to be chased away by the dog. I'm trying to keep them separated (cat out at night, dog out in the morning etc.), but the cat is getting so close to her due date she's a little over-cautious, so even when the dog can't get near her, the barking is enough to scare her away.
She didn't come back home this morning, but I saw her hovering around in the bushes near the driveway. I guess she's decided living outside is better than living at my place.

Animal cuteness
UPDATE: Here's the backstory on these pictures for anyone interested.
This photographer was sure he was going to see the end of his huskies when a polar bear materialized out of the blue.
Moving in for the kill?
Oh poor doggie...
Oh noooo...
What? Huggiez!?!
Now if that didn't make you go "awwww" you're dead inside.

Elephants marching 2 by 2
"Two female Asian Elephants, performers at Newmarket's Garden Brothers' Circus, broke free of their pen early Thursday morning and wandered into greener pastures in the city located about 50 kilometres north of Toronto.
They were found around 3 a.m. nibbling on trees and foliage outside some nearby homes by a group of friends who happened to be walking a short distance away.
One elephant was munching on a tree, a witness said during an anonymous phone call to York Police.
'We just found an elephant walking down the street,' he said to a confused dispatcher. 'Like, a full grown elephant!'"
The hotwire in the elephants' cage had been turned off, allowing the elephants to bust out and stroll through the streets of Newmarket taste-testing shrubs and flowers. There was no major damage other than the little gift one of them left in some unfortunate's yard. Elephants are vegetarian though, so it'll probably be good for the lawn.

Porcupinian Intifada
Israel has deployed an elite strike force of forest rangers after discovering that its most toppest-secretest nuclear research facility (which may or may not produce plutonium for bombs) is under attack -- by porcupines:"Israeli Parks Authority spokeswoman Osnat Eitan confirmed a newspaper report that park rangers had been sent to the facility at Dimona, believed by experts to be used to produce atomic weapons, to catch dozens of porcupines that have been chewing through saplings and garden hoses.
Using potatoes and chocolate milk as bait, the prickly animals were being trapped and moved elsewhere, Eitan said.
The Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted the site's gardener, David Golan, as saying a porcupine population explosion posed a security threat."
