What a surprise

Why am I completely unshocked that recent revelations about Bruce Ivins, prime suspect in the 2001 anthrax mail attacks, include this little nugget?:
"Bruce Ivins may have targeted Sens. Tom Daschle and Patrick Leahy with anthrax-laced letters in 2001 because he saw them as bad Catholics owing to their votes in favor of abortion rights, officials close to the investigation say.

A day after the FBI effectively closed one of its longest and most complicated investigations in a decade, more detail about Ivins is beginning to dribble out. Ivins had been working at an Army lab in Maryland, and among the projects he was working on was a patented anthrax vaccine.

There was some speculation that Ivins had targeted Daschle and Leahy because he saw them as holding up funding that would have helped pay for his research into an anthrax vaccine. Now, officials close to the investigation say another possible motive could have been that Ivins saw the senators as bad Catholics because of their votes in favor of abortion rights."
Talk about barking up the wrong tree -- at first, everyone thought those anthrax mailings in the Fall of 2001 were some kind of "second-wave" terrorist attack following 9/11. When it was revealed that the anthrax used in the mailings was bioweapons-grade, investigators tracked it to an army lab, and eventually to Ivins, who committed suicide last month.

The evidence is circumstantial and Ivins is no longer around to defend himself, so it's doubtful the investigators on the case will ever be able to prove the allegations. But it explains some aspects of the attacks that didn't make sense before, such as why Democratic Senators were targeted.

Anyone still want to talk about bad shit in the mail? I thought not.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE, they just keep on coming: More! Apparently, Ivins and his wife (who was president of a local "Right-to-Life" group), also supported the shriekingly anti-gay "American Family Association". You know, the cretins that are currently boycotting McDonalds for being pro-gay. (Seriously.) Batshit is as batshit does!

Round Two

After the full house I laid on the table this morning in response to SUZANNE's report that a fetus fetishist finally got the shot in the head that was coming to him, she upped the ante with a report on Pro-Abort Terrorism. It seems some fetishizers in Ecuador got a taste of bad craziness -- a dead rat and a death threat -- in the mail.

The mail. Oh, no. Do you really want to go there? Because unfortunately, sick twisted weirdness in the mail is one area where the fetus fetishists are way ahead of us.

Let me know when someone gets shot, stabbed, bombed, anthrax'd or catches a face full of battery butyric acid. Meanwhile, ya gotta know when to fold 'em, baby.

OK, I'll play

I'll see your 'assault'

...and raise you a stabbing...

and a bombing...

and a shooting...

No, make that 2 shootings...

No wait, three shootings...

And -- ah, what the hell, let's go for broke.

A fetus fetishist taking intrusive pictures of a doctor (including the doc's car with his license plate clearly readable -- now why would they want a picture of something like that, I wonder?) finally ends up getting slapped around by said doctor? Oh boo hoo hoo! They're lucky we don't treat them the way they treat us.

Bye-bye, dickhead

"HOUSTON (Reuters) - A Texas man who earlier pleaded guilty to the attempted bombing of an Austin health clinic where abortions were performed was sentenced on Friday to 40 years in prison, officials said.

Paul Evans, 27, left a nail-packed bomb in the parking lot of the Austin Women's Health Center on April 25, but it failed to go off.

Prosecutors have not disclosed why he wanted to bomb the clinic, but the Austin American-Statesman said Evans admitted in court on Friday he wanted to harm abortion providers.

"I never meant for anyone, except for the abortionists, to get hurt," Evans told U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks."

Forty years. Heh. If I'm not mistaken that means the Federal Pen... the sweetest facilities this side of Guantanamo (which is really where he should be, given he's a fucking terrorist). Oh well, I suppose we can be thankful for small favours. With that baby face he'll be the most popular item on the tier.
