"Ultrasound Bill" passes in S.C. house

What an insult to women. Anti-choicers in South Carolina have one more reason to stuff their fucking snouts in women's crotches, now that they've passed a bill mandating that women who've decided to have an abortion be forced to view an ultrasound of the fetus.

"A bill requiring women seeking abortions to first look at an ultrasound of the fetus passed overwhelmingly Wednesday in the South Carolina State House."

No doubt with the anti-choice police in attendance to restrain the woman and prop her eyes open with toothpicks to keep her from blinking. Un-fucking-believable.

I'm all for making informed decisions, but this isn't about information, women get all the info they need from their doctors. This is about coercion. Not only that, but the suggestion that women don't know what they're doing when they have abortions is insulting in the extreme. As if women are such flakes that we can be swayed in a life-altering decision by jangling a set of shiny car keys at us. (Being shown an ultrasound would have had the opposite effect on me, anyway: "Yikes! Which way to the fucking O.R.?!")

This is the guy who sponsored the bill, he doesn't sound biased at all:

"Representative Greg Delleney is sponsoring the bill that would require the ultrasound. 'She can determine for herself whether she is carrying an unborn child deserving of protection or whether it's just an inconvenient, unnecessary part of her body and an abortion fits her circumstances at that time,' said Delleney."

All I can say to Rep. Greg Delleney is, how's your uterus? What? Don't have one? Then shut the fuck up and mind your own goddamn business. Asshole! (No! I'm not stressed out! Not at all!)
