What Friedman said

The inventor of the Friedman Unit tells it like it is on flailin' Palin:
"How in the world can conservative commentators write with a straight face that this woman should be vice president of the United States? Do these people understand what serious trouble our country is in right now?"
The short answer is, of course they understand, they just don't give a shit.

I'm listening to Rush right now, and he is pissed.  Pissed that McCain lost the debate last night.  Pissed that the ridiculous "Ayers story" isn't getting more play (thanks to the "Drive-By Media", of course).  Pissed that the GOP's electoral chances are relentlessly swirling in the bowl, something that's unlikely to change unless Obama kills and eats a litter of puppies on live network TV.

Yet a caller just said "At least we've got Sarah Palin" -- *GAG* -- and Rush concurred, going on to berate the GOP for trying to appeal to "moderate conservatives".  (Huh!?  With a nutcase like Palin??  Hahahaha, oh please.)

I think they know good and damn well how ridiculous Palin is -- how could they not? -- but their livelihoods depend on perpetuating the "culture wars" bullshit and she's perfect for it.  If conservatives and liberals were to start working together to fix REAL problems like the economy, and that is what it will take, the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Reillys and Coulters would quickly find their careers on the same trajectory as the GOP's election campaign.

"Disrespectful"

Who's running for President, McCain or Palin? Check out the Rethugs' latest:

After all their jabbering about sexism it was only a matter of time before they took it a step further and played the victim card, even though it's a little sexist to cast Palin in that role. Would this work as an ad for John McCain? "They dismissed him as old-looking, said he was just doing was he was told (by the religious right), then they called him a liar. How disrespectful." But never mind that -- speaking of lies, talk about making the point! The ad is chock-full of them:
"The new McCain-Palin ad "Disrespectful" begins like an earlier ad we criticized, with its reference to Barack Obama's celebrity, but then goes down new paths of deception. It takes quotes from news organizations and uses them out of context in an effort to portray Obama and his running mate, Joe Biden, as unfairly attacking Sarah Palin and making sexist remarks. We've long been a critic of candidates (Obama included) usurping the credibility of independent news organizations and peddling false quotes, and this ad is particularly egregious."
How disrespectful... of the truth.
