Kosovo pisses off lifesite

SHRIEEEEEK!! Those REAL Women granny panties will soon be in Perma-Twist!

With barely a moment for their knickers to unwind after this week's Red Alert about the Canadian Human Rights Museum, the intrepid simpletons at lifesite are once again gasping, clutching their pearls and stumbling blindly toward the fainting couch. This time it's the World News that's got them in a lather -- specifically, the newly-independent nation of Kosovo. Along with a Declaration of Independence, the former Serbian province has drafted a new Constitution -- and the feeble-minded busybodies at lifesite are anything but pleased with some of what's in it. Such as:
"Article 25 of the draft document on the "Right to Life" removes protection from the unborn stating that, "every individual enjoys the right to life from birth," and Article 26 grants "the right to make decisions in relation to reproduction in accordance with the rules and procedures set forth by law," further giving each Kosovar "the right to have control over his/her body in accordance with law."

The draft constitution specifically ensures that "no one shall be discriminated against on the basis of … sexual orientation" but gives no special protection to the traditional family. In fact, the English version of the draft article on the "Right to Marriage and Family" leaves out mention of men and women, stating only that "Based on free will, everyone enjoys the right to marry and the right to have a family." (emphasis delightedly added)
Whoa! Well, how about that? As well as the right to independence from Serbia that all Kosovars now enjoy, Kosovar women and gays will have rights too. And just 3 days into their independence, this little nation has already managed to make lifesite SHRIEEEEEEEK! and call the whole country "anti-life" and "anti-family". ("Anti-family"? I've seen fetus fetishists use the term "anti-life", but "anti-family" is just weird -- how is giving more people the option to be a family "anti-family"?)

Not a bad start for this little nation; if they've already pissed off lifesite they're on the right track.

Unleashing the fury

Continuing the spirit of the past weekend's smackdown goodness, Cheryl at TGB lets it fly from a female perspective:

"I try to pride myself on being fairly rational and level-headed. But every now and then I lose it. And I lose it big time. And there is no telling what it is that sets me off. This time, I think it was an innocuous, routine daily visit to the BBC news site. Today, I clicked onto the “health” page and was struck by 3 stories. One was about a woman effusing over how “womanly” she feels after her breast enhancement surgery. The second story was about a website, based in the US, where women post pictures and personal details about themselves in the hopes that male readers will donate money to allow them to afford breast surgery. The third story was about a medic in India who specializes in aborting female fetuses. I lost it. I lost it…big time." (...)

Read it and punch your fist in the air: "YES!"
