G8 not going Gr8

Sometimes I almost feel sorry for dubya ("almost" is the key word here). Speaking at a news conference at the G8, he said that in a meeting with Russian President Putin "I talked about my desire to promote institutional change in parts of the world like Iraq, where thre's a free press and free religion, and I told him that a lot of people in our country would hope that Russia would do the same thing". Putin kind of laughed and responded that "we certainly wouldn't want the same kind of democracy as they have in Iraq, I will tell you quite honestly".
Gee Vlad, why not? If you overlook the daily-random-kidnappings-shootings-beheadings-and-bombings thing, Iraq is a perfect model of democracy. What a prick, Vlad.
