Brinkley, a 2-year-old golden retriever, is running for governor
of Alaska. What began as a joke between Brinkley's owner and her friends (I can just hear the conversation: "Even my DOG could do a better job than these guys...") evolved into a canine gubernatorial campaign. "Elect Brinkley" signs, T-shirts and other campaign paraphernalia have so far raised about $4,000 for the ASPCA.
Brinkley hasn't specified which party he's representing or what their platform is, but I'd suspect he's a leftie. (Cats obviously lean to the right.) If Brinkley wins, will he toast the supporters at his Victory Party with a crystal goblet of toilet water?
