Arion Distinctus

Also known as the Garden Slug, the Large Red Slug (A.Rufus) or the Field Slug (A.Hortensis), they can be anywhere from less than a cm. to (!ack!) 15 cm long. In addition to eating leaves and flowers, these little guys are Mother Nature's clean-up crew and feed on a variety of waste materials; garbage, dog shit, they're not fussy. They move verrrrry sloooooowly, leaving a trail of slug-slime in their wake.

Slugs are also nocturnal, someting I'd forgotten until I went outside in bare feet a few minutes ago. New fact: slugs explode when you step on them. YECCCCHH!!!!
