Okay vultures, you can stop circling. Fidel Castro celebrates his 80th birthday today, following surgery and amid speculation about his possible demise.
Once again, he's dashed the hopes of American conservatives, who were probably already drawing up blueprints for the expansion of Gitmo. Castro's no angel... name one politician who is... but I have to admire the way he's stood up to US bullying over the years. So happy birthday, Fidel, and many more.
