Georgie's press conferences used to be such a great source of entertainment. Now they just make my blood pressure rise, cause dizzyness, headache and erectile dysfunction. (Just making sure you're paying attention.)
Today (or was it yesterday), Georgie's presser dealt with the New Strategery in Iraq. Remember how he used to say "stay the course" and "adjust to win"? Now he says "we're not winning, we're not losing". A reporter reminded him that less than 6 weeks ago he said "Absolutely, we're winning!", but Georgie said that in his world, "are" means "will be".
George talked about "resetting" the stressed military, which presumably means increasingly the troop levels. But where are those extra troops coming from? And no word about getting out of Iraq, even though that's what the voters want, as indicated by the well-deserved shit-kicking they laid on the bush administration in November. Most Americans want to see at least a timetable for withdrawal, some indication that things are changing. But nah, Georgie doesn't think so:
"...the president said he interpreted the Democratic election victories six weeks ago not as a mandate to bring the U.S. involvement in Iraq to an end but as a call to find new ways to make the mission there succeed."
In other words, Iraq's New Strategery is more of the same.
