say that Saddam has departed this vale of tears, having been executed at 6am local time, about 5 minutes ago. As he begins his fade into history, you can be sure he's be taking a lot of US state secrets with him. The reason for the secrecy surrounding the execution wasn't because the powers-that-be give a flying monkey fuck about Saddam's dignity; they'd have sold tickets to it if they could. The White House said that the "event" will be private because they don't want Saddam to say anything before he dies. "Say anything"? Like what? Guess we'll never know.
