Bill C-484 "Kicking Abortion's Ass" Debate

The arguments for and against were everything we've already seen. Those against said the bill wasn't protective, it didn't address the issue of violence against women, and that the people behind it are trying to get at abortion rights. Those for it claimed it was about "serving justice", and continued to propagate the outright lie that the bill would protect women and deter violence against fetuses. Oh yeah, and that other lie, that it's not about abortion (even though it really is).

One interesting thing, though: CPC MP Tom Lukiwiski started off by suggesting that the Justice Minister consider the institution of consecutive sentencing provisions. I take this as a tacit admission that Bill C-484 doesn't actually do anything to "serve justice", and in fact could result in a shorter sentence than what would be imposed currently.

So good idea, let's overhaul the entire criminal code so a few fetus fetishists can get their way.

Well, March 5th is two days away. Keep those cards and letters going out.
