Kittenblogging

Ya missed them, didn't ya?

Mr. Blue sits in a plant pot (as my head explodes from the cuteness)

Mama drags him out and gives him a bath
Awwwww!
Here's all four of them: Mr. Pink , Mr. Black, Mr. White and Mr. Blue

And Mamacita, Mr. Blue, Mr. Pink and Mr. White (Mr. Black is lurking around somewhere)Happily, Mr. Pink and Mr. White are going to a new home today, together! Not a moment too soon, because I'm super-attached to them, especially shy little Mr. White. But they're going to someone I know, so I can visit them. Mr. Blue and Mr. Black will be sticking around here.

No more kittens! The vet will be making sure of that next week.

The Divine Ms. B

It's true!!! It was revealed to me today (by a friend who's more knowledgeable about cats than I am) that Mr. Blue is in fact... Ms. Blue!!!

In fact, the only "Mr." in the bunch is Mr. Black, which would explain why he's the only one aggressive enough to stare down the dog.

This will take some getting used to... or would, if I was planning on keeping them all. Which I'm absolutely not.

Kittens!

Woohoo! Sunday morning, time to check out the outside world:

Mama's relaxing, kittens are wandering.

Mama hears a noise and marches over to check it out, with Mr. Blue in hot pursuit.

Ooooh. Something BAD out there. Mr. Pink and Mr. Blue stare in awe. What could it be?
Evil lurks beside the deck.

More exploration on the dog-less side of the deck.
D'oh!
And the adventure ends the usual way. That's how it goes with these guys, half an hour of feverish activity, then THUNK! zzzzzzzzz

Kittens!

For a change... here's Mr. Blue, Mr. Pink, Mr. Black and Mr. White hanging out, still small enough for all four of them to fit comfortably on a chair...

and -- whoops! Oh sure, it might look that way. But those kittens are smart: before they take that scratching post seriously, they want proof that it's the real thing and not just a ball of twine twisted around the empty cardboard center from a used-up roll of paper towels.

Friday night kittenblogging

In the morning, the kittehs tear around and wreak havoc, like Mr. Black here:

But eventually they get tired and grumpy

And it's Afternoon Nap Time

Here's Mr. Black, Mr. White and Mr. Pink, all exhausted and crashed out

The comatose Mr. Blue:

Oh wait -- he's rolling over, but that's about as much exertion as he can take at the moment.
Being a kitten is hard work.

Kittehs

The kittens are getting more independent, finding new places to sleep away from mama. Here Mr. Blue comes out from under a pillow

Lift the pillow and -- what's going on back here? A kitten slumber party...

Everyone starts waking up...

Except for Mr. Pink, scrunched up in the corner, who thought about it...
...but decided it was a bad idea. Too comfortable!

They like their hidey pillow-place; but the best place to nap is still in a pile close to mama.

That's the kitten story for now... developing...

Kitteh Repurrrrt

"Oh hai."
The kittens ("the" kittens, not "my" kittens) are 4 weeks old and deadly cute. Though they still spend a lot of time under the dresser, they're more anxious to leave their little nest now. When I enter the bedroom, whoa! Excitement! They are instantly galvinized into action, bursting forth from their nest and charging towards me like a kitty cavalry. ("A" kitty cavalry, not "my" kitty cavalry.)

They've been spending more time outside the nest, especially up on the bed, which they seem to have adopted as a new nest. Usually, mama cat will only let them stay up there for awhile, but lately she's been letting them hang out there for as long as they want.

Last night I made the tactical error of letting them all stay on the bed all night, and I awoke this morning with Mr. Blue curled up fast asleep on my neck like a furry little goiter. Sort of like this:

Mistake! Mistake! Mayday! Mayday! *sigh*

More kittymashup:

"Settle down, Mr. Blue, ur wakin everyone up."

"Leave alone now. Haz had enuf pickshers."

*sigh*

Kittens steppin out

The kittens are getting a little bored with their enclosure today, but not sure if they want to try going out on their own just yet.

The adventurous Mr. Black goes for it.

"Holy shit, Mr. Black! What's it like out there?"

"Scary and slippery. But there's cat food out here somewhere, and I'm gonna find it."

Kittens - 3 weeks old

They're starting to get mobile. Below, Mr. Pink makes a break for it as Mama and Mr. Blue look disapprovingly on.

Below, Mr. Black, Mr. Blue and Mr. Pink (Mr. White off to the left) with looks of consternation at the light from the camera flash.

They're still pretty goofy-looking, but their eyes are lightening up so they'll soon be adorable kittehs.

NO! I'm not keeping any.

Maybe one.

Kittens

Today:

Sadly, I think there's something wrong with the little gray guy. I noticed a while ago that his head always seems to be turned to the left, and it's becoming more pronounced. Plus, he was one of the biggest kittens, but he's not keeping up to the growth rate of the others, and now he's the smallest. Otherwise he seems okay, though, so maybe whatever's wrong with him isn't life threatening, or even a permanent condition.

Cute-o-meter rising

One more kitten with eyes completely open...

I'm dead meat.

Oh no

The first kitten has his eyes open:

I'm doomed.

1 week old

They're starting to look less like rats and more like kittens. I'm dreading the day (which is coming very soon) that they open those little eyes of theirs... oh no...

Whoops, here's mama. Photo shoot's over.
