Al-Pieda strikes again

Al-Pieda is becoming emboldened. Yesterday the mayor of Calgary got a taste of banana cream terrorism:

"CALGARY (CP) - Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier is the latest victim of a pie attack.

Bronconnier was walking along the street near City Hall on Thursday morning when a woman walked up to him and hit him in the face with a pie. Police immediately tackled the woman. Donna McPhee, 56, is charged with assault with a weapon and drug possession."

Assault with a weapon? A pie? But never mind that, what really got my attention was the drug possession charge. Drug possession? If I was planning on doing something that would almost guarantee some kind of law enforcement intervention, such as smashing a pie into the face of a government official (even a municipal one!), I think I'd stash the drugs!?

"CALGARY (CP) - Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach was the target of an attempted "pieing" today at the premier's annual Stampede breakfast in Calgary.

Stelmach had a security detachment as he shook hands with people in the crowd when two young women attempted to hit him with a pie from across a table.

The pie ended up falling harmlessly on the ground."

This isn't the first such attack. Everyone remembers when Al-Pieda attempted to strike Ann Coulter, who called it "an act of terrorism". The pie-tossing insurgency has been active for years:

"The attacks have taken place throughout the world, and claimed such illustrious victims as Microsoft's Bill Gates, Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien, former European Commission President Jacques Delors and Dutch Finance Minister Gerrit Zalm, who was last year felled by an organic banana pie at the opening of the Amsterdam Stock Exchange."

Yeah, it's all fun and games until someone loses a ...
