Duggar kid #17 falls out

Mother of 16 (that's right, 16 -- as in "sixteen?!?") Michelle Duggar dropped yet another one yesterday:

"It's a girl — again — for the Duggars. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar welcomed their 17th child, and seventh daughter, into the world Thursday." [...]

Less than 30 minutes after giving birth, the Duggars already were talking of having more.

"We'd love to have more," Michelle said, adding that the girls are outnumbered seven to 10 in the family. "We love the ruffles and lace."

"The ruffles and lace"... how sweet. I hope Mama Duggar knows what happens to little girls who are forced to wear ruffles and lace against their will. My mother sometimes forced me to wear that shit -- need I say more?

Seventeen - that's enough for a couple of hockey teams!!! Predictably (I was going to say "naturally", but there's nothing natural about having 17 kids) they're already talking about having more... get the feeling Jim Bob needs a hobby? Here's a fun little factoid about the prolific Ms. Duggar of the Fruitful Womb: the woman has spent 126 months - 10.5 years - half her adult life - pregnant. Sorry, but that's just not cool. Firing out kids one after another for years on end like a goddamn baby cannon gone berserk is just freaky, and I shudder to think of the physical damage -- her insides must be like overboiled macaroni. I wonder what's on their bedside table, astroglide or Polyfilla™ ?

"Knocked Up" - the movie

Yikes. I just stumbled upon this while surfing around for something else: "Knocked Up", the movie, Coming (ha) Soon To A Theater Near You.

The premise of the movie is that two people meet, get drunk, get laid, get pregnant -- all in the same night -- and BOOM! Lives are changed forever, for the better of course, when the career girl and her slacker fuck-buddy decide to settle down and have this baby. (And live happily ever after. Of course.) It's a glorious, rosy, and irresponsibly unrealistic picture of accidental pregnancy.

Maybe I'm picky, but this movie gives me the creeps. It's not a question of being pro-choice or anti-choice; the woman in the movie made her choice, so good for her. It's just that I know from experience that getting knocked up after a one-nighter isn't the romantic bed of roses this movie makes it out to be -- for most people, it's an unmitigated disaster. I just hope the people in this movie's target demo (teens, young adults) are perceptive enough to realize this, and don't slack off on the birth control.
